Carbon Jacked Ltd Terms & Conditions

Effective 19 April 2020

By accessing www.carbonjacked.com, purchasing and or being a member you are entering into an agreement with Carbon Jacked Ltd and agree to the terms and conditions that follow. Carbon Jacked Ltd is the owner and operator of this website.

Carbon Jacked is the trading name of Carbon Jacked Ltd. Any reference to "we", "us", "our", "Carbon Jacked" or similar refers to Carbon Jacked Ltd. Any reference to “member”, “you”, “user” or similar refers to the individual using the Carbon Jacked Ltd service. The terms “membership” and “subscription” are used interchangeably in this document.

Our service

  1. Carbon Jacked allows users to offset their carbon footprint through a monthly subscription. This subscription can be purchased by the user for themselves, or on behalf of another person.
  2. Carbon Jacked shows users a figure for their carbon footprint based on the location they choose, and allows them to offset an equivalent amount in the form of a monthly subscription.
  3. We guarantee to offset at least as much CO2 as your membership plan sets out through the highest quality Gold Standard projects within the category of project that you selected. If for any reason the cost of offsetting your footprint is less than your membership plan, we will invest any additional money in our members, our business and into projects that have a positive environmental and social impact, such as further carbon offsetting or education programmes.
  4. Carbon Jacked works with third party providers to offset your carbon footprint. In the event that a third party fails to deliver on their obligations, we will do our best to offset your carbon footprint via alternative providers, but this could result in a delay to our service.

Membership

  1. Your Carbon Jacked membership begins from the day of purchase. Thereafter a payment will be taken on a monthly basis on the original purchase date. Your membership will continue on a monthly basis until you actively terminate it.
  2. Unless you cancel your membership before your monthly renewal date, you authorise us to charge you for your next month’s membership fee via your chosen payment method.
  3. You can change your subscription at any point. Provided you make the request before your monthly renewal date, your new subscription will be active from your next payment date, subject to our ability to process the change
  4. Our pricing model is designed to avoid the need for constant changes. However, we may need to change the price of our service for a variety of reasons, such as fluctuations in carbon pricing. Any changes to your membership price will be notified in advance and you would have the opportunity to cancel your membership
  5. We reserve the right to communicate with our members as necessary. The majority of our communications will be in electronic format.
  6. Members are responsible for keeping their membership details, including their password, safe and secure.

Billing and cancellation

  1. The first payment for your Carbon Jacked membership will be taken on the original payment date, and thereafter a further payment will be taken on a monthly basis on the original purchase date.
  2. Your payment will be taken via the same payment method that you used to make your first payment. You can change your payment method at any time by logging into your Carbon Jacked account and accessing the ‘Account’ page.
  3. We process payments with Stripe, a third party payments application. Liability for payment issues therefore rest with Stripe. As part of Stripe’s service they may attempt to automatically update card details when a member receives a new card. Automatic card updates require card issuers to participate with the network and provide this information.
  4. We do not store your card details. All payments are processed through Stripe.
  5. You can cancel your subscription at any time. You can do this by logging into your Carbon Jacked account and accessing the ‘Account’ page. We endeavour to cancel subscriptions as quickly as possible, but if you do not cancel your subscription before your monthly renewal date you could still be charged for the following month.
  6. We reserve the right to cancel your membership. Failure to meet your monthly payment could result in the cancellation of your membership.

Projects

  1. We categorise our carbon offsetting projects into three main groups; ‘renewables’, ‘reforestation’ and ‘community’. Within these groups we select projects and work with them to offset your carbon footprint. If it is necessary to change a project, we would replace it with one from the same category. This means that your carbon footprint could be offset using a different project to the one that was shown on our website at the time you purchased your membership. However, it would still be offset with a project that fits within the category that you chose, such as ‘renewables’.
  2. We partner with projects that meet the highest standards for carbon offsetting, as well as broader environmental and societal impact. This means that we currently partner with projects verified under the Gold Standard for the Global Goals, which is based on the Paris Climate Agreement and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. However, we reserve the right to partner with alternative projects if we judge that this would be better for our members and our company objectives.

  1. All of our merchandise is sustainable and produced with the environment in mind.
