Choosing our climate projects

High impact & evocative

How do we choose our climate projects?

Our Carbon Jacked memberships help fund some pretty epic climate projects. But… how the hell do we actually choose them? Well, it all starts with two things:

1. 💥 High Impact – making sure the money donated will have the biggest impact. We use the principles of effective altruism (EA) to maximise the impact of every pound spent and make a real difference to climate change (explainer on EA at a later date...).

2. 🖤 Evocative - to grab people’s attention and make them want to contribute. If a high-impact project sounds dull, we like to get involved and add a little spice because it’s all very well having the highest impact projects... but it's no use if nobody wants to contribute to them. We want people to care and feel good about what they’re doing.

If a project ticks these boxes, we’ll continue our research and make sure it’s properly verified. 👌

Some of our current projects include:

🌳 Peak District National Park - Native tree planting on the Monsal Trail and restoring peatland

🌲 Forest & wildlife protection - Ntakata Mountains, Tanzania

👥 Community Project - Solar cookers for refugee families in Chad

🌊 Tree planting & coastline regeneration - Madagascar

🌏 Effective Altruism - Climate Change Fund

🔗 If you want to support these epic projects and help combat climate change, you can become a Carbon Jacked member from just £2.50 per month - just click here.

If you're already a CJ member (applause), you can sit back, relax and know that you’re doing your bit for the planet. 🖤 As well as supporting these projects, you can access our nifty platform to calculate your carbon footprint and find out how you can reduce it.

To find out more about our process, you can check out our project selection criteria in full here, as well as a breakdown of individual projects here. We’ve also got a few explainers on individual projects coming up so stay tuned.

Saving the planet shouldn't be boring.
