Carbon Footprint Explained
All individuals and businesses have a carbon footprint.
A carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere as a result of your activities. So, the more travel you do, the more flights you take, the more meat you eat, etc. the bigger your carbon footprint is.
In order to combat climate change, we should all be trying to reduce our own carbon footprint, and the first step in being able to do that is to understand it.
Understanding your carbon footprint
For all Carbon Jacked members, if you’re interested in finding out about your personal carbon footprint you can use the Carbon Jacked Carbon Footprint Calculator in your Member Area.
Reducing your carbon footprint
When thinking about reducing your personal carbon footprint, you should think about 3 main things:
1. Energy
2. Transport
3. Food
80% of your carbon footprint comes from these areas, and there are simple things you can do to reduce them. For example:
1. Energy - if you can afford it, switch to a renewable energy tariff. Check out our renewable energy explainer here.
2. Transport - go electric, take the train, ride your bike, use your legs. Check out how different modes of transport compare here.
3. Food - eat cleaner and greener. Choose more plant based options over meat. Check out more info here.
